Class of 1974 after 4 decades
With overwhelming enthusiasm and support from our classmates, 52 of us gathered again in November 2014 to celebrate our most anticipated 40th Anniversary.
We kicked off our celebration with a warm up private tour to Taipei where we indulged in leisure excursions, hot spring spa, culinary explorations and lots of catching up and reminiscing our good old school days.
On the 21 November, a thanksgiving mass was conducted at the historical heritage of the Sacred Heart Chapel. It was then followed by a tea gathering with the Canossian sisters and presentation of our donation. We are most grateful for the presence of Sr Cynthia Chan, Sr Rosangela Cesati, Sr Carla Perego, Sr Maria Hsu (our secondary school Principal in our upper form days), Mrs Winnie Wong (our then Vice-Principal) and Mrs Rose Chan. Sr Ida who was with us in our 35th Anniversary was sadly missed and will always be fondly remembered. In our homecoming, we specifically revisited the remnant of the old stone staircase which we used to climb daily to reach the main school compound.
On the same evening, the reunion dinner was held at The Shanghai Fraternity Association with a turn up of 51 classmates of whom 14 are from Canada, USA, UK, Australia, Shanghai and Thailand. Special thanks must go to the teachers (Mrs Rose Chan, Mrs Lanyin Fletcher, Mrs Susan Chung, Ms Luk Yun Mee, Mrs Victoria Yan, Mrs Edith Tong and Ms Loy Yung Fong) and the classmates who have graced this special event with their attendance. Two overseas classmates even flew in on that very day in time to join the reunion. The gathering was filled with joy and laughter amid fine wine and dining, photo taking, chatting, sharing of family and secondary school photos, singing, dancing, watching the 35th Anniversary highlights and lucky draw. Some of our classmates were even rekindled for the first time after 40 years since graduation. But the most touching moment was when we all sang the Auld Lang Syne hand-in-hand to wind up that memorable evening. We not only brought home with us the souvenir key chain from the SHCC and chocolates hand made by Mrs Rose Chan but also the lovely flowers from the floral arrangements. It was therefore no surprise that many had to keep up with the party spirit elsewhere right after the dinner.
We all look forward to our 45th Anniversary when we would all be in our 60s with more being mothers-in-law and grandmas.
May God continue to bless our alma mater, the Canossian Mission and the sisters!
May we keep them in our thoughts, prayers and support!
